Wind Energy Conversion Systems: Current Status and Future

Lata Gidwani, Bhagwan Gidwani

Abstract

Abstract

Although wind energy has been in use since five thousand years, but many contemporary societies are still dependent on the use of fossil fuels their various energy needs. During the last three decades, regulation of energy supply and various environmental issues have developed the need for renewable energy applications. This article focuses on the development made by wind energy and discusses the current status of this technology. Due to its development, wind energy conversion systems have gained an important evolution over decades. Some of the countries with wind energy developments are listed together with a discussion of how widely this energy source might be used. This paper presents the current status of wind energy in the world to readers.
