Oil and gas industries use corrosion inhibitors made of active inhibitor intermediate, carboxylic acid, demulsifier and surfactant in aromatic solvent, and alcohol. High pressure and high temperature oil well flow lines are made of steel pipes. These pipes are prone to corrosion from gaseous contamination, oil quality, flow rate, developed shear stress of turbulence, pump spar techniques, etc. Carbon dioxide to carbolic acid conversion at below 100oC temperature appears to be cause of corrosion in steel pipelines at subsea in presence of water or water contaminated oil of aged oil wells. About fifty percent expenses may be reduced by use of inhibitors to corrosion in pipe lines. Localized pitting corrosion appears to be major cause of structural failures in flow lines.
