Aim of current project is to propose a gravity dam across river Tapi, Amravati district in Maharashtra. Many Talukas in nearby areas are facing severe water shortage for major part of a year as there are no other perennial water resource. Agriculture is solely dependent on monsoon. Ground water table is very low. Scope of project includes site selection, collection of rainfall data, planning, design and estimation analysis of the proposed dam. The design of dam superstructure is such that it will accomplish the necessities. Dam components like free-board, crest, spillway, inspection area. Designing and steadiness of the shape is carried out the usage of the software program STAAD.Pro and estimation is completed the use of the software program MS-Excel. Gallery & sluicegate are also included in scope of the project. Foundation is excluded in as it requires a thorough study of the soil strata of the location. Discharge in Tapi during monsoon is 32686 cumecs. Proposed dam is 126m in height with a freeboard of 2 m. Length of the dam is 120 m having a storage capacity of 680137 m3 . By implementing this project in that region, the zone of influence will be all the agricultural areas covering the urban.References
