Dispute Preventive Measures in Construction

Abstract

Dispute is one of the critical factors causing inefficient construction industry due to which cost and time overrun occurs. Various causes of disputes whether client related or contractor related, are inherently lies in contract documents. A contract document comprises of mainly two section of documents, one, contractual terms and conditions related documents (General conditions of contract, Special conditions of contract) and second one is the technical documents (specifications, BOQ, etc.). Special conditions of contract are the most critical area of contract where dispute arises. The aim of this research paper is to identify the critical dispute factors, their criticality and analyzing these factors to identify the preventive measures of the disputes. Using expert interview, various domains of contract has been identified, where improvement is required to prevent construction disputes.
