Abstract

Abstract

The main objective of this paper was to formulate and identify the physiochemical characteristics of fuel blended with algae oil, butanol and gasoline. The comparison of the characteristics of algae and butanol blended with gasoline is also presented in the paper. These blends have been prepared with three different blending ratio 5%, 10% and 15%, respectively. The requirement of another source of energy is increasing rapidly as fossil fuels are depleting every day on a larger scale. Alternate fuels also have some benefits such as environmental friendly, less toxic, renewable in nature and biodegradable too. In the recent years, many experiments were conducted to dig out the potential of alternate biofuels for different applications in terms of their performance and emissions. The formulated blends have been tested for physiochemical characteristics. The auto-ignition temperature, flash point, pour point, homogeneity test for density at four different layers and calorific values are identified as per standard procedure. The outcome of all physicochemical characteristics was also found to be promising. These results are expected as quite useful for its use in automotive engines.
