Abstract
In this study, an attempt has been made to assess the landslide risk zones using a GIS based weighted linear overlay method with Satty’s analytical hierarchical process to maintain consistency for assigning rank and weight for following factors includes geology, geomorphology, rainfall, soil, road density, drainage density, and topographic triggering factors such as slope and aspects are taken as input for assessment of landslide risk.Thus the technique used in landslide risk zonation has produced the result depicts very low landslide zone consists area of 0.96 km 2 , low landslide zones consists area of 1477.36 km 2 , moderate landslide zone consists area of 1652.96 km 2 , High landslide zone consists area of 649.16 km 2 , and very high landslide zone consists area of 182.37 km 2 in Kodagu District, Karnataka, India
