Information-Based Decision in Telecommunication: A Web GIS Approach

Abstract

Nowadays, information advantage and utilization has become a very important topic. Technology is rapidly changing and advantage depends more and more on the amount of information that is available in real time. Geographic Information System (GIS) is of great importance in accomplishing modern day task of information management. This paper focuses on the direct application of GIS solutions to telecommunications sector, how to achieve maximum output, reduce cost of service and customer’s aspect using the programmable interfaces provided by Google Map API, open source and map function. We created an information management system which has the map to probe the application of GIS in telecommunication information management like new generation forecasting map, location base system, kip’s coverage, customer care, asset management, and telecommunication marketing. The system adopts Google map which is used by client/users, spatial data storage system and web services. These can improve the information system’s extensibility and help in managing resources and decision.
