Estimation of Reliability and various parameters of a Radial Electrical Distribution System: An Innovative Safety Approach

Aditya Tiwary

Abstract

Reliability assessment of an engineering system or systems or component or element is very important in order to forecast its availability or unavailability and other important indices related to the component or system as a whole. Reliability is the floating which tells about the availability or unavailability of the component under proper working conditions for a given period of time. A lot many research papers have been reported for reliability analysis of distribution system and transmission system. Monte Carlo simulation has been used to evaluate the modified reliability indices for radial and meshed distribution system. Strap bootstrapping technique was also used to obtain the reliability and its different parameters in literature. Customer based evaluation of the reliability was also carried out for the distribution system under study. Different optimization techniques such as particle swarm optimization, differential evolution, teaching learning based optimization and many more were also outlined in papers for analysis of various reliability parameters. In view of above, in this paper a study based on reliability analysis of an electrical distribution system is obtained. Various parameters related to reliability such as mean time to failure and reliability of each and every component of the distribution system is been obtained. Various parameters obtained along with the magnitude are also shown in the result section. The electrical distribution system taken for study is radial distribution system from the literature.
