Planar UWB Antenna for 5 GHz ISM Band
Abstract
Abstract
The Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) technology used for high data rate with low power levels for many wide applications which mainly includes short range, wide bandwidth communications. The Planar UWB antenna is designed for 5GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) band. These bands are specially dedicated to industrial, scientific and medical applications other than telecommunications. ISM applications like Microwave ovens, RF process heating and medical diathermy application. Proposed antenna has VSWR less than 2 (Voltage Signal Wave Ratio gives us the exact measure of how much RF power is transmitted from source into the load). The range of values for VSWR is from 1 to ∞. A VSWR value under 2 is considered suitable for most antenna applications and our main aim of this project is to obtain VSWR less than 2 which is compatible for a good antenna design. Proposed antenna has Return loss is less than -10 dB (Return loss gives us the measure of how well the devices are matched) usually having a higher value of return loss is considered to be desirable. Higher return loss gives us lower insertion loss which is desirable in antenna applications for a proper range of communication between the source and destination elements. These parameters have been seen by FEKO software.
