Abstract

This paper is to optimize process parameters to minimize the surface roughness and maximize the material removal rate by using CNC milling machine. In this research work due to wide applications and economy of EN-5 mild steel, it is used as a work piece material for machining and the process parameters studied were spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut. Taguchi L 9 orthogonal had been used with three level of process parameters further analysis is done with ANOVA. Results shows that spindle speed followed by depth of cut have most significant effect on surface roughness and for MRR feed rate followed by depth of cut had most significant effect.
