Photonic Design of Two Input XOR Gate at 50 Gbps Data Rate

Devendra Kr. Tripathi

Abstract

This manuscript explores the photonic design of two input XOR gate at 50 Gbps data rate. In the photonic circuit, each component exercised supports for the light wave propagation. The performance of optical XOR gate is alike to their digital variant. The key constituents utilized in designing of this photonic network are 2×2 optical coupler and semiconductor optical amplifier. The proposed design is executed by the igniting the nonlinear attributes with SOA, which is regarded as negative aspects if SOA is utilized as an amplifier. The performance of this circuit is evaluated on the basis of factors like extinction ratio, yields 14.5 dB with non-return to zero pattern. Numerical simulation depicted good performance for the vital design parameters as normalizer average power and peak laser power, altogether yielding fine extinction ratio. The proposed schematic is simpler and presents option to furnish two different input signals concurrently. The outcomes are well supportive for the design of advanced all-optical logic complex computing operations.
