Short Review on Medical Applications of Particle Accelerators for Cancer Therapy

Subhadeep Mukhopadhyay

Abstract

Abstract
The cancer therapy by accelerators depends mainly on the following technologies: higher RF electron linear accelerator (linac); optimization of proton linac; synchrotron, cyclotron; superconducting magnet; and principles of laser. Firstly, the medical accelerators are described as a set of high RF linacs, synchrotrons, cyclotrons and superconducting magnets. Secondly, the medical accelerators are described as a set of accelerators applying the principles of laser. This short review will be helpful to overview on the status regarding the medical applications of accelerators.
Keywords: Synchrotron, cyclotron, acceleration, laser, therapy
