Abstract

Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA has developed one very light and small sized modular portable nuclear power plant. It can be transported to remote places either by truck or cargo plane or boat and installed there within a couple of days. It can provide readymade plug-and-go power supply at war front, disaster site, remote islands etc. with a very low sound signature. Due to use of heat pipes and other inbuilt safety devices it is not accident prone like conventional nuclear power plant. It is very easy to operate and provides uninterrupted power for at least 5 years.
