Abstract

PANI/Bi2O3.CO.ZnO nanocomposites were prepared in presence of bismuth cobalt oxide nanoparticles at 25oC using ammonium persulphate as an oxidant in an in situ polymerisation with aqueous solution of camphor sulphonic acid (SDBS). These nanocomposites were characterized by XRD, FTIR, TEM, UV and SEM. The performance of PANI, PANI/Bi2O3.CO.ZnO nanocomposites and PANI/Bi2O3.CO.ZnO/CNT nanocomposites as anticorrosion protective coating on Al in 0.5 M HNO3 was studied by using potentiodynamic polymerisation technique and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). These studies showed a good corrosion inhibition of aluminium in 0.5M HNO3 by the fabricated nanocomposites. PANI/Bi2O3.CO.ZnO/CNT shows the best corrosion inhibition and obtained 99.85% corrosion inhibition efficiency.
