THE THICKNESS EFFECT ON TiO 2 THIN FILMS FABRICATED BY USING SOL- GEL DIP COATING METHOD

S. Ochathevan, P. Kokila

Abstract

Titanium dioxide films were prepared by sol-gel dip-coating technique onto glass substrates at room temperature. The study focuses on the structural pattern of TiO 2 films which were dominated by the parameters such as the film thickness, pH, annealing temperature and number of dipping layers. At first the dipping speed is optimized with the refractive index of the film along with the number of dipping layers. Then the film deposited for 5 layers and 16mm/m were chosen for different pH’s and annealed at various temperatures. The result shows the film annealed at 400 0 C and at pH=3 shows good homogeneity and the phase control. The structural parameters also confirms the stability of the structure studied by using XRD. The composition of elements studied by EDAX, The annealing temperature was optimized by TG-DTA.
