Efficient Transmission Pricing using Power Flow Tracing

Ishaan Dubey, Ankit Singh, sandeep bhongade

Abstract

The evolution of transmission pricing philosophies in deregulated power markets has introduced various techniques for efficient and accurate cost estimation of power exchanges. Earlier methods of postage stamp cost estimation failed to provide accurate cost signals. Point of Connection (POC) method is a technique through which a considerable sunk cost can be recovered but is still inefficient if applied alone. In addition to this, the POC method along with the marginal cost method does not provide an accurate price signal. To overcome the above lacunae, the POC tariff method is employed with the recent Power tracing framework, employed for Active power flow methodologies.
