Amit Bhumarker, Abhishek Singh

Abstract

The manufacturing consideration in the contact shaped by the piston ring has attracted plenty of attention over many decades, not least indicated by the huge no. of articles published on this topic in recent years.

The modern manifesting concept is more like a protective kind and addresses the need for a manufacturing organization to produce efficiently and effectively. Today's manufacturing id highly challenging and it tests an organization's ability to perform and deliver within the shortest possible time at a lower cost without compromising on the standard of the product being manufactured. To perform well organizations should make use of their resources to the maximum possible and all non-value-added activities should be reduced to the extent possible.

An organization must introduce the all kind of measures to enhance the production capability and also reduces waste reduction; therefore, the critical factors such as set up time, tool life, machine breakdown time, etc must be thoroughly studied and monitored for carrying out the improvement actions, in order to increase the productivity of the machines. Quality control tools are very useful in distinguishing and prioritizing the essential factors touching productivity. A detailed analysis was to be performed to improve the overall productivity of various manufacturing processes of the piston rings. The detailed work has been performed at perfect circles India limited, Nashik, Maharastra, India.
