Abstract

The study of north light truss and modified trusses by analyzing and designing has been carried out and submitted the comparative study of the same in the form of tables, graphs and charts, which highlights the forces, deflections, optimum steel requires, actual steel requires as per grouping. STAAD.Pro V8i software also used to analysis and design of such models. Solar panel loads also considered on the truss. Limit State Method (LSM) and Working Stress Method (WSM) applied for designs of the truss. The studies divulge that the analytical investigations, LSM design is high bending strength, maximum deflection and maximum local buckling and distortional buckling compare to the WSM. But LSM is economical compare to the WSM design. North light truss has given high axial strength, low load caring capacity, maximum deflection and local buckling compare to the modified trusses, but one modified truss design is most cost-effective compare with north light truss and others modified trusses, with same design method. The observations made based on this study are very much helpful in choosing the best truss configuration in structural engineering. The result highlights the actual economy done by LSM over WSM for different structural sections.
