Syed Shafahaduddin Quadri, R.M. Sawant

Abstract

In this paper, a reinforced concrete elevated water tank with a capacity of 500 cubic meters and h/d ratio=0.7 is considered, the present study investigate the performance of elevated water tank using dynamic analysis, i.e., Response Spectrum method. The modeling of elevated water tank is carried out by using finite element base software STAAD.Pro. Total twelve number of model were made for empty tank, half tank and full tank condition, these models are provided with ten numbers of columns along with the periphery of a circle with five staging level, connected by using various bracing patterns such as Diagonal bracing, X-bracing, V-bracing and Inverted V-bracing. The analysis is carried out by considering various bracing patterns and the same model is analyzed for various seismic zones such as (Zone-II, Zone-III, Zone-IV and zone-V). The response of each elevated water tanks with respect to other will be checked for Base shear, Axial force, Bending moment, Twisting moment, and Lateral displacement. The percentage increase in Base shear, Axial force, Bending moment, Twisting moment, and Lateral displacement for all zones with respect to zone-II is described with the help of graphs.
