Effect of Infill-wall Material Types & Shear Wall on High Rise Buildings: Review
Abstract
In the countries like India, the most common structural system which behaves as exterior and partition walls in the construction of RC frames is masonry infill. So it becomes Substantial to study significance of the masonry infill. Many researchers carried out researches on buildings with the masonry infill walls using red bricks in most of the cases and AAC block in some cases. With increasing construction work, the material used in construction work affects the cost of the entire structure. Therefore there is a need to find better alternatives so that cost can be saved without affecting the strength of the structure. AAC block can be used in place of red bricks as it is cost-saving and eco-friendly as well. When high-rise structures are constructed or the buildings are constructed in earthquake-prone areas resisting lateral loads becomes very important. There are many ways or techniques used to resist the lateral loads and most used is providing shear walls. This review paper highlights the effect of the different infill walls, infill material, and shear wall on high rise structures.
