Abstract
Irregularities are not avoidable in construction of a building. Building Structures are almost irregular, as ideal perfect regularity very rarely occurs now days. As far as buildings structures are concerned , for practical use , Indian seismic code divides irregularity in structure which are in plan irregularity and in elevation irregularity, but it had been found and realized that irregularity in structures is the result of a combination of both types. From previous research it is seen that behaviour of irregular structure during earthquake is dangerous and vulnerable. Hence the behaviour of irregular structures during earthquake needs to be studied. This paper is focused on irregularity in plan due to re-entrant corner. It also highlights the effect of different re-entrant ratio on a structure.
Keywords: plan irregularity, re-entrant corner, response spectrum analysis, torsion, shears force.
