Biomaterials, Colloid and Surface Chemistry

Jaya Mishra

Abstract

Colloids and colloidal systems are crucial in a variety of commercial and industrial settings. They function in everyone’s cell- Blood, Blood fluid, intracellular fluids also known as “Humours”. Colloidal science, on the other hand, is a nascent field with a small number of certified professionals compared to other fields of study. Furthermore, most colloidal research has been limited to industrial operations. Agriculture, the concrete industry, horticulture, the floral business, mining, electroplating, and cosmetics are just a few of the industries that use colloids. Biomaterials are materials that interact with biological systems, whether they are natural or artificial, alive or dead, and are usually made up of a variety of components. In medical applications, biomaterials are frequently employed to supplement or replace natural functions. Surface chemistry is the discipline of chemistry that studies chemical reactions and changes that occur at the interface of two phases, such as solid-gas, solid-liquid, liquid-gas, and so on. Surface chemistry has a wide range of applications in analytical work, medicine, and the paint business, to name a few. It's the study of chemical processes that occur at the interface of two surfaces, such as solid-liquid, solid-gas, solid-vacuum, liquid-gas, and so on.
