Study of Adsorption of Nickel on Soil in Rural Area of Hadoti Region: An Ethical Approach to Reduce Soil Pollution
Abstract
Nickel (Ni), one of the toxic heavy metals, is widely distributed in soil and aquatic ecosystems. The chemical nature of the soil has a significant impact on the environment. The adsorption reaction of nickel in alkaline soils is the main topic of this research. The removal of Ni (II) from aqueous solutions uses soil as an adsorbent. Batch adsorption studies were used to study the effects of various factors, including initial metal ion concentration, adsorbent dose, and pH. Changes in Ni(II) concentration due to adsorption were measured spectrophotometrically using dimethylglyoxime. The wavelength used for the measurements was 445 nm. Optimum results were obtained at an initial metal ion concentration of (mg l-1 ), pH =10 and stirring time of 14 minutes and amount of soil (6 mg/50 ml). A visible light spectrophotometer is used for all spectroscopic and absorption measurements. The study of nickel adsorption by soil is important for evaluating data on the function of nickel in agricultural soil.References
