Abstract

Abstract

The demand of green and clean energy is increasing rapidly with gradual depletion of fossil fuels. With abundant solar irradiation throughout the country, solar Photovoltaic (PV) conversion has gained momentum in India, which is actively supported by government policies and incentives in the sector. In order to accommodate daily and seasonal variation of solar radiations, solar system must have proper energy storage device in the form of battery bank. In this study, the energy requirement of a village near Kolkata in West Bengal has been studied. To meet the energy requirement, standalone solar photovoltaic system is designed with the help of PVSyst, a software package for the analysis and simulation of complete PV system. Detailed system configuration, including PV panel size, required battery bank, solar inverter, and solar charge controller, are designed along with mathematical calculation.
