The building system causes excessive vibrations during the seismic event which can lead to the complete collapse of a building, bridges etc. resulting in damage to the structure. Hence, the safety of the structures is essential to keep the building functional during and after the effects of the earthquake. To overcome these damages, additional energy dissipation systems are considered for the seismic protection of the building. The aim of the present study is to use the X-plate damper (XPD) in the structural system and compare it to a building without XPD. Non-linear time history analysis is carried out with and without the XPD in the system. The results show that there is a decrease in the overall displacement of the building compared to without the X plate damper in the building.
