Abstract

Automation has changed the working scenario all over the globe. It has increased productivity
and efficiency while decreasing the time needed by conventional methods. The shift towards
automation has resulted in more production in less time. But in countries like India
implementing automation in small scale industries is both complex and costly. This paper
proposes a semi-automatic machine which can be used for filling and crimping operation of a
perfume bottle. The idea is to develop a machine that can perform the filling and crimping
operations on one setup thus reducing the space and labor cost. Presently these operations
are performed manually at a small-scale level which can be performed automatically using
this machine. Individual machine setup for filling and crimping is not required thus, saving
the cost and maintenance issue. The semi-automatic mode of operation reduces human effort
and manufacturing time while increasing the manufacturing rate of the perfume bottles.
