Abstract

Abstract

This paper focuses on the elementary analysis of a motorcycle helmet using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The designs of the helmet chosen for the analysis are open face, closed face, and open face with human skull inside. The analysis was done on various speeds of airflow. However, in this paper we will be giving a more generalized idea considering only one velocity of the airflow. We used ANSYS (fluent) for the various analysis part of fluid flow (air). The steady state was chosen as the parameter for the analysis of the airflow over various models of helmets.

Keywords: Airflow, ANSYS (fluent), CFD, drag, lift, 2D model, ventilated helmets
