Abstract

The power transformer being very expensive plays a tectonic role in power system. Reliability is apogee in power system. Any failure fringing power transformer may lead to substantial monetary loss depending on how much duration it is out of service. On-line monitoring and prognosis of power transformer helps the associated delegate to take decision on subject of maintenance, replacement or continuity of its operation. From accessible vivid methods for condition monitoring of power transformer, the potent key tool for diagnosing the verdure of the transformer and determining propitious condition for service is Sweep Frequency Response Analysis. Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA) helps to detect different abnormalities residing inside transformer without detanking it. In these paper, we have discussed prosecution of SFRA, principle governing SFRA, its facets, detection of faults by SFRA, various frequency response obtained by SFRA tests and rules for repeatability.
