Design of Plasmonic Based Splitters for WDM Applications

Santosh Kumar, Lokendra Singh

Abstract

Abstract

Plasmonics has special property of metallic nanostructures to allow manipulation and routing of light at nanoscale. In this paper, 1×2 and 1×4 splitters are designed using metal-insulator-metal (MIM) plasmonic waveguides. These proposed splitter designs could be used to conquer various filtering devices for high assimilation in surface plasmon polaritons based metallic surfaces. The results are verified using finite difference time domain (FDTD).

Keywords: Plasmonics waveguides, surface plasmons, finite difference time domain (FDTD) method
