Abstract

One of the major issues in today’s automotive sector is under-inflated tyres. In this category at least a single tyre in 27% of passenger’s cars and 33% of light trucks and SUV faces under-inflation by more than 25%, finally concludes with 4.69 billion liter of fuel wasted per year. Under-inflation and over-inflation conditions also affect the safety, fuel economy, tyre longevity, environmental and driving performance. One of the solutions to tackle this issue is self-inflating tyres (SIT). SIT concept is designed and tested in five seat passenger car. The principle of peristaltic pump is followed in the SIT investigation.
