Design and Implementation of SRF-PLL for Grid Synchronization

Sivakumar S. L.

Abstract

The existing power system stands in a peculiar spot where a lot of innovative ideas keeps on forcing it to change itself to work more efficiently and consumer friendly. The micro-grid is one such area where the involvement of consumers in the power system is much more engaging than it was before. With the emergence of dependable and reliable renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind, the need to implement and install the same in an efficient manner is very important. The micro grid which is basically an inverter supplying power to the local loads needs to meet the exact parameters of the grid with the help of PLL. In this paper SRF-PLL and its working is studied. A unit vector is generated which tracks the phase and frequency of the grid voltage which is essentials in synchronizing the inverter with the grid.
