Investigation of Square Monopole Antenna with Slotted Patch

Abstract


A novel antenna with slotted patch for L-Band applications is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna consists of a square patch with rectangular slot. By slotting of the patch the antenna shows enhancement of gain in allocated band. A rectangular slot in the patch and partial ground plane is used in this antenna to enhance return loss and bandwidth. The simulated results have shown that the designed antenna receives –62 dB return loss and covers the frequency range about 1–2.5 GHz band allocated to L-Band applications. The radiation pattern and gain characteristics are given. It is printed on dielectric substrate of FR4 glass epoxy with relative permittivity of 4.4, thickness of 1.6 mm. Prototypes of these configurations were simulated in frequency range 0–3 GHz. Simulation result is calculated using computer simulation technology (CST) microwave studio 2010.
