Experimentation and two-dimensional fluid flow simulation through external gear pump

N. D. Dhote, M. P. Khond, Abhir Bhalavi

Abstract

The investigation aims to perform the experimentation on the existing set up of the gear pump test rig and its simulation. In the first part of study, the different parameters are set and observed. Using these values calculations are performed to get the other experimental results. In the second part, two-dimensional fluid flow simulation was done flowing through the external gear pump and compares its flow rate and thus efficiency at certain discharge pressures with the experimental results. This study gives a clear understanding of the numerical analysis as well as actual analysis of the external gear pump. Prediction of pressure at the different regions in the fluid domain of the pump was carried out for each discharge pressure at the end.
