The present study examines an effort to synthesize the composition of the hybrid metal matrix, by using aluminium-based matrix reinforced with silicon carbide and ceramic porcelain material. Weight reduction and reliability of components are the main priorities when developing automotive parts, it is essential to select and use materials with a high strength to weight ratio. It was feasible to identify an appropriate material for automotive applications by using this type of reinforcement. Lower weight enables low fuel consumption and thus low emission with a significant environmental impact. The composites of the hybrid metal matrix were manufactured with different composition for the material of 5 wt.% added silicon carbide each and added 1.5, 3, 4.5 and 6 wt.% of porcelain, using cost-effective liquid metallurgy, i.e. stir casting method. The density, void fraction, hardness and impact strength of the manufactured composite was assessed and compared with their physical-mechanical characteristics. It is seen that the density of hybrid composites decreased with the rise of porcelain in the matrix whereas, the hardness and impact were improved, especially for a maximum reinforcement ratio of novel composite, with respect to the base matrix. The results recommend that the developed composite could be a prospective material for automotive components.
