Electromagnetic Disc Braking with Smart Assistant

Electro-mechanical disc brakes are electrically actuated, yet mechanically transmit torque. The magnetic flux attracts the armature to the face of the brake when power is applied to the coil of an electromagnet. It squeezes the inner and outer friction discs together as it does so. The design of an electromagnetic disc brake requires a multidisciplinary approach. Its performance is an outcome of the usage of concepts from various fields, viz. mechanical, electrical, magnetic, and material engineering. This study describes a novel form of electromagnetic disc brake that can be used to slow down a vehicle's movement. A detailed design approach for an electromagnetic disc brake is described in this work in order to assure optimal efficiency and effective braking. Various magnetic materials are examined in terms of cost reduction while maintaining electromagnetic performance. Nowadays, road accidents are more frequent to occur largely in number. These accidents cause much damage to the vehicle and serious injury or even death of passengers. Most of the accidents take place due to the reaction time of the driver.References
