Abstract

Abstract

This paper represents an experimental investigation of light duty petrol engine. This engine is utilizing the wasted energy in the form of heat to improve the start-up time of engine. The complete experiment has been carried out to for selecting best suitable PCMs by conducting experiments on Maruti 800 engine. The aim of the present research work is to reduce starting time of engine by utilizing the heat stored in thermal energy storage device (TES). Different properties of PCM were studied by varying test conditions and based on the performance, paraffin wax was selected as the best material.
