Abstract

The feasibility of using Moringa oleifera seed for the Congo red adsorption from aqueous solution has been investigated as a low cost and an eco-friendly adsorbent. Adsorption studies were conducted on a batch process, to study the effects of contact time, initial dye concentration and adsorbent dosage. Maximum colour removal was observed at higher adsorbent dosage. The present dye removal decreased from 95% to 81% as the dye concentration has been increased from 1 mg/l to 4 mg/l. A maximum removal of 95% is obtained at higher adsorbent. The results suggest that Moringa oleifera seed is a potential low-cost adsorbent for the Congo red dye removal from aqueous solutions.
