In this article analysis of shear strength parameters of Ennore Sand is given using the direct shear test. The shear strength parameters of cohesion and angle of shearing resistance are employed in the construction of geotechnical constructions to describe the soil's ability to sustain shear stress when subjected to a certain load. These might be measured using laboratory or field testing. When shearing a sample in a direct shear apparatus, sample is forced to shear in the center portion of the sample, which may not be its weakest point, thus this test overestimate shear strength. To overcome these limitations the direct simple shear test was developed. This paper proposes direct shear performed on Sand types include coarse (CS), medium (MS) and fine (FS) where the failures are occurred like Slopes, Retaining wall, Embankment. The metal box has dimensions of 60mm x 60mm x 25mm. Conventional direct shear tests (CDST) are performed in unsaturated conditions; results are examined in terms of shear strength parameters. A comparison is made between two cases, [ Case 1] without Grease and with soil, [ Case 2] With grease and soil in the (CDST). The application of grease is placed in the space between the top and bottom boxes, tests were conducted. The basic shear test is used to improve isotropic, elastic evaluations of stresses and strains in this presentation.
