Analysis and Benefits of Soil Health Card in Salgarha Village of Tripura
Abstract
The soil health card serves as an evaluation tool to gauge the overall well-being and characteristics of soil, considering its attributes, botanical components, and biological features. Its primary function is to assist farmers in the ongoing process of monitoring and enhancing soil health, leveraging their practical experiences and firsthand understanding of their land. Consistent utilization of the card enables the tracking of prolonged patterns in soil health and facilitates the analysis of outcomes arising from diverse soil management strategies. The assessment provided by the card is qualitative in nature, intended to offer insights into the soil's health status. Its fundamental goal is to employ indicators that appraise the soil's inherent capability to sustain crop cultivation, while considering its intrinsic potential and the inherent constraints of the specific site. The present study was conducted in Salgarha village of Tripura, soil health status is studied for the area. Variation of all the micronutrients for five selected districts for 2018–2019 and 2019–2020 and variation of production and yield of five crops district-wise are obtained. It is found that the soil health card is useful for the farmers in maintaining the soil fertility and plant nutrient supply at an optimum level.References
