Automated Diesel transfer system using PLC

Ajay Sudhir Bale

Abstract

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is used in many small and large scale process/production industries. In this paper, PLC is used to control the transfer of diesel required for the diesel generator (DG) when the main/local power supply goes off. A modelling of a diesel transfer system using PLC provides an effectual method to maintain uninterrupted power supply to continue the process/production which helps to maintain quality, reduced human intervention and provides safety to the equipment & system by having interlocks. Siemens PLC & Siemens Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal are used to model & simulate this automated system respectively
