MATLAB/Simulink Based Modelling of Solar Photovoltaic Cell

Ankit Kumar Sharma

Abstract

Abstract

This paper focuses on a Matlab/SIMULINK model of a 36 cell/72 cell solar photovoltaic cell. This comprehensive Solar Photovoltaic model has been built on mathematical equations and improved through an analogical circuit connecting a photocurrent source and a diode, connecting through a series resistor and a shunt resistor. The developed model assists in the predicting and analyzing the behaviour and properties of PV cell/PV module under different physical and environmental parameters. Such system can also be applied to chuck out the physical parameters of a particular solar PV cell as a work of temperature and solar radiation. In addition, this study outlines the working principle of PV module as well as PV array. In order to validate the developed model, an experimental test was conducted in Matlab and it is used to develop standard 150-watt BP150SX solar panel in order to validate the model the characteristic curve was compared with the standard curve generated from the datasheet. This model helps in developing various applications and research from the simulated solar module.
