Abstract

In this paper, a compact coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed quadruple-band-notched antenna with concentric annular-rings for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications is presented. The proposed antenna consists of four concentric annular-ring resonators, a circular shape radiating element and a CPW feed line. The quadruple band rejection is easily achieved by controlling the widths and radii of four concentric annular-ring resonators. Through the exception of four stop-bands at 3.29 to 3.7 GHz, 5.07 to 5.92 GHz, 6.98 to 7.71 GHz, and 7.97 to 8.52 GHz for filtering the worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) mechanisms, wireless local area networks (WLANs), downlink of X-band satellite transmission systems, and ITU band communications, correspondingly, the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) results indicate that the proposed antenna exhibits good wideband achievement over a UWB frequency range from 3 to 10.7 GHz with VSWR less than 2. Except for the notched frequency bands, good radiation patterns and gain characteristics are produced throughout the complete UWB frequency range. When the measured and simulation findings were compared, there was good agreement. The proposed antenna provides a simple structure and good characteristics and is suitable for UWB applications.
