Abstract

In several application domains, induction motor drives have been steadily being replaced in recent years by permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. Due to the compactness, efficiency, resilience, reliability, and shape adaption to the working environment of PM motors, this is starting to become a trend. In high performance applications demanding quieter operation, permanent magnet synchronous motors are widely used. Instead of torque ripples and cogging torque, electromagnetic forces are the primary contributors to noise and vibration in PMSM. It has also been discovered that radial forces, rather than torque ripples, are the primary contributors to noise and vibration. the harmonics of the normal force and the of stator. In this project, a technique for supplying the motor with little vibration is provided. Based on analytical magnetic field computation techniques, the analytical solutions for electromagnetic vibration sources such as torque ripple, cogging torque, and radial force density have been developed. In good agreement with the predicted values from the analyses, the 2-D FE analysis results confirm the validity of these solutions. By applying FFT analysis to these vibration sources, the specific acoustic noise in electric machines has close correlation between the resonant frequencies harmonic orders and the corresponding frequencies that affect vibration of the PMSM’s stator have been investigated. The way in which the specific frequencies affect the vibration of the PMSM’s stator has been extensively studied using the mechanical modal analysis results and the vibration measurements based on the rotor speed. The analysis equations will be developed using Simulator.
