Abstract

Because wireless networks are becoming more and more popular, it is necessary to combine several heterogeneous networks in order to give users access to global information. An intriguing and modern concept called vertical handoff aims to combine several network interfaces. Battery power is the single most essential parameter that affects specific mobile nodes. The battery life of some mobile nodes is nearly depleted at the conclusion of algorithm execution because of the intricacy of earlier vertical handoff algorithms. Furthermore, since mobile nodes run on limited battery power, switching to a network with lower power consumption helps prolong usage time when the battery level drops below a predetermined point. Therefore, creating a vertical handoff method with the least amount of complexity is essential. This study develops a new vertical handoff method that uses two easy steps to determine the optimal handoff option. This method, in contrast to earlier algorithms, distinguishes between mobile stations with abundant resources and those with limited resources while it is running. The reason this algorithm assists in connecting to the best network near the mobile station is that it considers the dynamic new call blocking likelihood while making the handoff decision.
