NaI (TI) Assembly System for Identifying TNT Samples Using Backscattering System in a Moisture Soil

In this work a setup was designed to perform gamma backscattering detection of the landmine that buried in a wet soil. Experiment was carried out by using NaI (TI) detection system assembly consisting of three different radioactive sources mainly (60Co, 241Am and 137Cs). The optimal configuration was selected to the capability of the proposed device to show where the target sample was identified while moving the detection along the box contains wet soil. The results in terms of contrast ratios and sample distance position verified and localized the sample. In addition the high contrast ratio and a high signal were obtained in the case of 137Cs source rather than the other two sources.
