Date waste as environmentally friendly composites
Abstract
Our country, Iraq, is one of the country's first lead in the world in the palm cultivation and this in turn provides a very copious amounts of dates and that the remnants of this plant material useful is the seeds of this date, which is used as animal feed and as a material with a very low cost. This study gives a method of manufacture can be take advantage of them in the recycling of palm waste (cores) and their use in green and sustainable engineering applications such as composite panels, high ceilings, and other applications, in addition to contributing to solving the problem of the accumulation of these natural waste which reduces the negative effects on the environment. We used in this work particles date seeds as a natural strengthening of the polyester resin and proportions strengthen (1%, 2%, 3%). For the purpose of comparison with the properties that were obtained in these composite materials reinforced by date seeds particles have been manufacturing a composite material of the same resin reinforced with particles calcium carbonate industrial, the same proportions strengthen above. Results showed that the samples that contain a date seeds have a high improvement in impact resistance increases with increasing reinforcement ratio compared with sample have calcium carbonate particles.Downloads
