Abstract

Abstract:

Since few years there has been great demand for energy Audit as energy as become one of the most important factor for any industry. There has been constant efforts to minimize energy losses and energy audits are proper way to manage energy consumption of any industry. Energy Audit plays an important role as energy wastage is major issue in industries (energy spending accounts for ~ 10% of the average manufacturer's expenses). This growing trend should only continue as energy costs continue to rise. Energy Audit conducted time to time saves lot of money for industry, helps in preventive maintenance and also gives a broad aspect to the utilization of energy in different sections and its corresponding wastage. Such an audit programme will help to keep focus on variations which occur in the energy costs, availability and reliability of supply of energy, decide on appropriate energy mix, identify energy conservation technologies, retrofit for energy conservation equipment etc. In this paper an attempt has been made to calculate the thermal efficiency of industrial furnace which plays a major role in any manufacturing plant. We have tried to build a cheap software which would indicate the losses taking place in the furnace rather than going for high end CFD softwares.
