Abstract

Abstract

In this study the low cost material of multi filament waste fish net and jute fibres were incorporated as the main reinforcing materials with epoxy resin and polyester resin as the matrix in order to increase the strength of the hybrid composites. The samples were fabricated using hand layup technique. The nylon fibre of waste fish net possesses high impact strength, elasticity property and highly resistant to abrasion of chemicals and lustre. The physical and mechanical properties of the hybrid composites were fabricated using epoxy and polyester resin by varying the mesh sizes of the waste fish net. Initially jute mat and waste fish net were cleaned and undergone various chemical treatment process in order to increase the strength of the samples. The tensile, impact, flexural, water absorption tests have been performed on these fabricated samples. The morphological analysis was carried on the samples using SEM to analyse the bonding nature between the waste fish net and jute fibre and to find which resin has a good adhesion property between samples.
