An Approach to Mathematical Modelling of Tensile Strength of 3D Printed ABS Specimens

In the present work the tensile properties of 3D printed Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) are studied. Layer thickness, raster angle and raster width were varied. Experiments were carried out based on Taguchi’s L9 orthogonal array. Tensile strength of ABS specimens was determined from universal testing machine (UTM). Mathematical model was developed to predict the tensile strength of ABS. It is found that the predicted model has good fit with experimental values. A performance parameter of 0.994 is reported. Also, it is observed that increasing layer thickness results in lower tensile strength and raster angle should be varied between 0o to 60o for better tensile strength
