Abstract

This paper presents the single cylinder SI engine based generator. The focus of this study is to use various alternative fuels like LPG (Propane), CNG (Methane), butane and comparing their performances with conventional fuel gasoline for SI engine. This study investigates that when using alternative fuels, the most prominent fuel in performance is methane, because performance is comparatively increasing and emissions are reduced. So, the methane (CH4) fuel is efficient, which is the main constituent of CNG alternative fuel. The main focus of this research paper is to improve the performance and reducing the emissions from single cylinder spark ignition engine based generator, by comparing the performances and emission characteristics of various alternative fuels, as per the future emission norms. The results obtained for conventional gasoline fuel were compared with alternative fuels, and it was found that methane fuel is more efficient in terms of performance. All the simulation results were performed on AVL Boost software, and the percentage load was made as the global parameter for checking power, Bsfc, Bmep, torque and emissions HC, CO, and Nox.
